Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Kindergarten students attend an inner-city neighborhood school built over 100 years ago. They all receive free breakfast and lunch and, for many of them, school is the only place where they hear English spoken. This does not prevent them from being eager learners, ready to explore the world around them. They will be learning to read and develop the skills that help them to be good readers and writers.

My Project
It's getting more and more difficult to provide students with just the very basic supplies needed to work and learn in a classroom. As we begin to plan for the next school year, we have already been told that our budget will not stretch enough to provide basic classroom supplies. Glue, paper, pencils, and crayons are the most basic school supplies that every kindergarten student should have.
With these basic supplies, my students will be able to develop writing skills, practice colors, shapes, numbers, and all of those beginning to learn skills that young learners need to be successful.
I want my students to begin their kindergarten experience with having the supplies that they need to create and learn. Through your generosity, you can provide these young learners with what they need to start the school year off right!
