This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"Always put your Heart into all you Do". I teach my students that even though we may not "have" a lot of "things", we each have a heart and mind waiting to be filled with knowledge! My students come from very poor backgrounds but are rich in spirit and the willingness to learn all they can!
My 3rd grade students come from very low socioeconomic backgrounds.
Most live with single parent families or grandparents. Many have fathers that are in prison. Our school is a high poverty, "D" school in Florida. My students are very loving and sweet. They come to school everyday, eager to learn new things!
My Project
We are in need of some basic supplies, like pencils and composition books. We would love to have some "fancy" supplies like pointers to use when we read at our poetry station or words from our Word Wall. It would make learning new words and practicing ones we know more fun if we had some letter tiles and magnetic boards to build our words on. In our Small Group Station, it would be great to have a table top dry erase board to practice phonics skills and vocabulary. Could you please help us?
By providing my students with these supplies, their learning will be hands-on and personalized.
For example: being able to manipulate letter tiles into real words and then display them proudly builds comprehension AND confidence! They will benefit from the use of all these materials tremendously.
