Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from various backgrounds. Their socioeconomic statuses vary. My students are curious learners. Our school is a Title I school with limited resources for our very special population of students.
My students have intellectual disabilities but that does not stop them from trying their best and learning as much as they can.
They are capable of understanding their surroundings, and they constantly want to explore their world. They enjoy learning and work so hard every single day. They are inspiring. We have been working side by side with typically developing students to build a collaborative learning environment that focuses on functional life skills.
My Project
My students need basic supplies to organize their employability skills curriculum materials. They need a cart for transporting their items, and various caddies for organizing their materials.
Students with intellectual disabilities need hands-on resources to learn basic concepts and these materials would enable them to learn the skills needed to secure employment.
Basic supplies can help students in many ways. The organizing caddies will help the students learn how to categorize their supplies and take inventory. This will help them with mathematic skills as well as writing skills. Basic supplies are essential for learning functional life skills and financial literacy skills.
