Help me give my students basic supplies such as paper for journals, colored paper and card stock for making instructional materials, and chalk and pencils for writing.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our Head Start center is in the heart of an urban area, in a very high poverty section of town. My beautiful three- and four-year-old students and their families face far more than the average number of challenges with poverty, illness, homelessness, domestic violence, intervention by child protective services, developmental delays and special needs. And yet these children are like every other young child. They need rich experiences of music, writing, sharing, and reading stories, warm teachers and exciting materials. I enjoy knowing they will someday join the ranks of the highly successful graduates of Head Start.
My Project
Copy paper is used in so many ways in our classroom. We make journals from it. We use it in our learning centers, both to create props such as pretend shopping lists, signs, and for students to draw their plans before building in the construction center. Young authors and illustrators also create books on various topics. We also need pencils, chalk, and colored paper to build our literacy and thinking skills.
Please help us create journals, books, and give us the tools we need to build our writing skills!
By supporting this project, you are giving us the pencils, paper, card stock, and chalk which will grow young learners literacy skills.
