Our journey together is a short one. There is so much to do in order to build Little Hearts and Minds! Each year I’m blessed with a mixture of Little Ones brought together for nine months. The families in our community love and care for their children and with their support, we work together to begin Growing Hearts and Minds!
The community as a whole, including some of the little ones in our kindergarten family were impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
Hurricane Harvey has changed this community and its families in many ways. With the negative changes brought on by this, families and their children will count on our kindergarten family for more love and encouragement!
Amazing things happen here!
I wish you could see the changes and growth made by this kindergarten family! We read, write, count, explore, investigate, listen, learn, and try to scatter kindness along the way!
My Project
My emergent readers need guided science readers in order to practice their reading and grow. There are many amazing science books available. However, little ones are often only reading the pictures.
Thinkers will be able to read the pictures and the words, with these just-right books!
Nonfiction texts are always high interest - they just are not always within their developmental levels. We will read and discuss the vocabulary in these early science readers.
Safety is a priority, we need a starter set of colored safety googles to protect our eyes during science lessons. If you could see us reading our science readers, we might just be wearing our goggles for fun!
The nonfiction sight word readers will strengthen their core of known words. We will use these books to practice sight words in authentic texts.
Many children, including those impacted by Hurricane Harvey in our community do not have just-right books at home. Help fill little hands with books, they can read!
These books will be in the hands of beginning readers!
