PJHS Cats are above the national average despite being in the lowest funded county in Alabama. Our school is the largest traditional junior high school in the state of Alabama and is home to over 1,000 7th and 8th graders. Our student population is predominantly middle-to-low income families with 30% minority students. With our school's close proximity to Maxwell Air Force Base, we have a notable amount of military families in our community and school. Also, due to the location of Hyundai Motors Manufacturing Plant and Maxwell Air Force Base's Air War College, we have many international students.
My students are excelling in a pre-AP Science course.
They need your help to turn our traditional school into an innovative, well equipped, inspiring space for learning!
My Project
This grant seeks to purchase Chromebooks on a 2 students to one device ratio for each class period. This will allow students to use online resources to access digital labs, videos, or primary sources for research. Student will be able to create digital projects, engage in collaborative digital environments and access educational and academic applications.
These Chromebooks are compatible with technology that is in use in other departments within our school.
Without these Chromebooks our students have limited access to technology within the science content. The set will be shared among 4 classrooms and therefore can benefit over 500 students. Help us discover all of the resources that technology can provide.
