Mr. Moore from Sun Valley CA is requesting computers & tablets through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students students the opportunity to blend technology with mathematics. I want to create a 2-computer lab within my classroom that gives students access for written projects, essays, and scholarships!

I have extraordinary students with limited resources, but they are courageous and have a zealous spirit to achieve greatness in mathematics and beyond. All my students attend the Math, Science, and Technology magnet as they have shown an affinity for the content. My students have so much character and creativity to think outside of the box. This is shown by their desire to go deeper with mathematics by their creativity in assigned projects. We are located in the San Fernando Valley, just north of Los Angeles. All of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch.
As an educator and mathematician, I am tasked in giving projects that requires students to think beyond the lines on the paper to apply their knowledge. This has led to creating projects using Desmos, applying their knowledge of sine, cosine, and tangent to real life applications, and using their math skills beyond rote memorization. The donation of the iMac computer will allow students to utilize a resource to help them complete projects from a technological view point.
Just one more computer to complete the computer lab that I envision for my students.
As my school undergoes renovation, the office where students use to print items, type essays, and complete their projects is moving far away on the other side of campus in January. In effort to mitigate the problem, I decided to find a solution. This is the solution. Moreover, the use of technology is ubiquitous, and mathematics is no exception! Desmos, Khan Academy, and internet apps will deepen my students knowledge in math allowing them to be equipped with 21st century skills. The use of the iMac will also aid me as an educator to present information that otherwise would be impossible to do. It will aid in test preparation, showing examples, and videos of math relevant lesson and cross content to help students type essays, research college programs, and scholarships.
