My Students

I teach at a Title I school in Hawaii with a huge population of English Language Learning students. We as a school serve a very culturally diverse and low- income population. Therefore, the experiences we provide our students within the school are crucial for their development.

All my first graders love to learn, however, the environment in which they learn differs greatly.

We use small group instruction and other strategies to provide the student with targeted, multi-sensory, and hands-on learning experiences. Given great in school experiences all 26 of my first graders thrive, learn, and grow!

My Project

This mobile two-sided easel will help enrich my students morning routine. They will be able to not only see my daily morning message but also correct the grammatical and spelling errors right on the easel. The reverse side of the easel will hold all anchor charts that aid students in recalling previous lessons and important information needed to complete their work. For example, our vocabulary anchor charts help to provide my ELL students with support so that they are able to connect the words with pictures.

With this new easel, my students will be able to easily access information and help them to engage in prior knowledge.
