This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach in a diverse urban high school with over 2,000 students. Most of our students live at, or below, the poverty line therefore it is out of the question to ask students to purchase a book. As is the case with most of my colleagues, I spend a considerable amount of my own money to purchase classroom supplies; therefore, would appreciate a little help in creating a classroom set of books for students to share!

I have students in my law classes at varying levels of reading comprehension, therefore am seeking two versions of the book Just Mercy to make sure each student can access this important story of justice and redemption.

Students have been studying the criminal justice system all year and will soon be researching the death penalty. This book will serve as the perfect companion to their research as it not only details challenges to wrongful convictions and death sentences but provides comprehensive coverage of a lengthy litigation process.
