My Students

My students are spunky, energetic, curious, and creative. Even though I teach in a low income/high poverty school where the majority of our students receive free or reduced-price meals, they are full of life and imagination. They bring so much to the table and remind me every day why I do what I do.

These fourth graders are ready to take on the world with their curiosity and vigor.

They are amazing young people! They also have a lot of energy which we try to use in the most productive ways.

From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me.

My Project

My students need flexible seating options. Children need to move. Flexible seating allows them to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow and core strength.

By offering my fourth graders flexible seating options, I hope to see an increase in their overall engagement and performance.

Traditionally students are expected to sit in the same hard seat all day long with little room for movement or choice. Flexible seating allows students some choice over their seats and adds a bonus of comfort.

Wobble chairs have a rounded base that allows kids a little movement while they sit, and we all know how fourth grade students need to move. Stability balls offer the same type of benefit with an added bounce.
