Imagine going to the same school as William McKinley! Or sitting in a classroom that Ida Tarbell taught in! This is the reality for students in our quaint, suburban town in Northeast Ohio, a town where they can actually walk to the library and other local haunts along routes that were commonly used by the Underground Railroad.
Our buildings are (literally) historical markers.
And while this is amazing and unique, we are always on the lookout for new and exciting ways we can breathe new life into our schools and classrooms!
My Project
Our classroom is becoming more and more technology centered. Students are engaged in daily activities with computers, iPads, and Apple TV activities.
We will use the protective cases to keep the technology safe as it is utilized throughout the day.
Currently, the two iPads used with the Apple TV do not have cases or keyboards. There is a constant fear of the technology accidentally falling off the desk and cracking. The cases will help us to move around and collaborate with each other within the classroom without having this fear. The cases will also keep our iPads charged and ready to go for the entire day.
Using the iPads, ELA lessons and Powerpoint presentations can be presented wirelessly as the teacher circulates the classroom, iPad in hand, instead of being required to stand in one place at the front. Student work can be projected or recorded for later reference (students love showing off their work). Portability is important for students, using the device for research in small groups and video editing.
