I am a second-grade teacher in a high poverty elementary school in southern Delaware. I have both regular education and special education students in my classroom. I also have a high population of ESL students who are either new to the country, still learning English or lacking language and vocabulary. I love teaching second grade! Second graders are enthusiastic about learning and becoming independent individuals. My students are so passionate about learning and work so hard to overcome their daily challenges from home and school. I am always looking for ways to continue to challenge my students and better prepare them for third grade.
My Project
My students love reading and learning about nonfiction topics such as bugs. They are always looking through the books in our library to find more books on insects and animals. I am seeking a variety of additional books focusing on various insects such as butterflies, bees, spiders, beetles, and more. My students will love reading these books and learning about new insects and all about those new insects. After reading these books, we will be able to create posters to share their new learned knowledge about the insect(s) they studied and learned about. Please help provide my students with new books to pique their interest in entomology and the world of bugs!
