My students need color ink, printing, lamination, Velcro and tape, for me to have the necessary tools to create file folders for my kiddos with special needs to learn in the most appropriate format.
Hi there! Thank you so much for visiting my page! So you get to know me, I am halfway through my 2nd year of teaching in the Indianapolis Public Schools District. My title is Intermediate Life Skills teacher which means that I get the extreme privilege of helping students with moderate to severe cognitive delays learn and grow. Each day is so unique and special, just like my kiddos!
Something that my students with severe cognitive needs require much more than a typical student, is to be able to intake and recall new information with the aid of colorful, sturdy materials.
Being in a public school district often doesn't allow a budget that can give these students all of the tools they may need to be able to strive to reach their full potential.
My students have IMMENSE amounts of untapped potential that I am SO incredibly excited to be able to get to help them achieve with these new materials.
My Project
My students each have their own set of unique gifts as well as challenges. My students primarily work on individual work throughout the day at subject specific stations. There they will complete independent tasks as well as learn new concepts with 1:1 assistance.
By providing these materials, I will be able to make engaging, colorful, long-lasting learning materials that will be unique for each student that will provide them individual learning on their own level.
For example, file folder activities provide a way for my students to work on an independent task at their level. These file folders are most engaging to them when printed in color ink and with the Velcro provided, they will be able to use pieces as manipulative that provide hands-on learning. Several of my students also have specific challenges which makes it essential that I laminate their work materials os they will last for the 2-3 years they are in my classroom.
