This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Growing up it was always my dream to become a teacher, and once I did, it became my dream to be the teacher I deserved and needed when I was younger. When I was in school the curriculum nor the instruction were geared toward children of color, especially our black and brown children. As the times continue to change, the curriculum and the instruction should change along with it. I am currently attending Capella University, where I am working on my doctorate (EdD) in curriculum and instruction. As a mom and a teacher here in The Bronx it is important to me that my students see themselves in the curriculum and instructional part of the classroom. With your help, I will be able to bring ideas of diversity and culturally responsive pedagogy into our schools and into the hearts of teachers around the world.
