Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember what it was like to enter your first day of Kindergarten? Help our students love to read! Reading books in a special space is engaging and motivating to young students learning to read. They are able to find a special spot and look at books and begin to read.
We are a Kindergarten Dual Language classroom in a public school in Connecticut.
Our students are learning English and Spanish in our program. They are learning to read and write in both languages. Our students are motivated and excited to learn two languages!
My Project
Our students will learn to become better readers by reading and listening to books in our "jungle." They will be engaged in many different types of stories that captivate their attention as they follow along and read in a bright and happy space. They will be able to find their books on the hardware that accompanies the brightly painted peg board the teacher installed over the summer. The books will be hanging from the hardware.
They will also be given the opportunity to write about what they have heard. After listening to a beloved story, they will be able to write a response to the character and write a story of their own with jungle pencils.
This donation will help our students and our school in amazing ways. A new carpet for our classroom is something that will benefit our environment.
