My Students

When you walk into our self-contained classroom you will see all the students actively engaged in activities with their teachers, each other, and independently. Throughout the day we work on helping our students to grow academically, socially, motorically, and adaptively.

Our students are 3, 4, 5 years-old who are identified as having a Developmental Delay or Autism along with a Speech/Language Delay.

They are amazing students who love being at school and learn through play. They are happy, fun-loving students who keep us on our toes and amaze us every day with their drive and determination. When learning a new skill they may get frustrated but they never give up. When they master a skill the excitement they show is contagious; the teachers always cheer them on but now the students have formed such a close community within the classroom they cheer each other on, even our non-verbal students will smile and clap for their friends.

My Project

My students currently have a trampoline that is on it's last leg. This is a classroom favorite and is used daily by most of my students. It helps my students release energy, meet their sensory needs, and just have fun.

Throughout the school year our visual timers have broken and we are down to one.

We also use these daily for helping our students know when to transition from one activity to another. It helps them become independent and not rely on verbal prompts from teachers when transitioning.
