Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is currently facing a funding shortage. One of the areas with the greatest monetary shortage is physical education. As a result, students do not have the necessary equipment to participate in physical fitness activities that are both exciting and challenging.
I am a 5th grade teacher in a low-income school, located in an urban district.
Students who attend this school do not have the means to participate in physical activities outside of school due to lack of finances and transportation. These students enthusiastically embrace opportunities to participate in physical activities at school. Unfortunately, the lack of equipment and resources greatly hampers this desire. In order for students to be able to effectively take part in physical education activities, they must be provided with adequate equipment.
My Project
Providing playground equipment to the students will enable them to gain a greater appreciation of physical fitness which will carry over to their adult lives. They will be able to learn the importance of self confidence, teamwork, and sportsmanship while gaining a greater appreciation for physical fitness. This equipment will be used for a variety of physical activities which will not only engage students, but also work on their hand/eye coordination.
Research confirms that high-quality physical education contributes to good health, develops motor skills, improves students’ self-confidence, and provides opportunities for increased levels of physical fitness - all of which are associated with high academic achievement.
Please help my students grow into confident, successful, physically fit adults.
