My students need sporting equipment for use during PE and recess in order to develop coordination, balance, and physical fitness. Learning to participate as a team extends to academics as well through collaboration and competition.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are eager to learn, willing to risk everything trying to do their individual best at all times. Their attendance each day is a step forward in overcoming challenges many children, will thankfully, never know. This special group of students are full of hopes and dreams, they want to be: paleontologists, veterinarians, doctors, artists, teachers, scientists, lawyers, dancers, princesses, and police officers. They work hard to learn and are eager to experience every new opportunity.
These students have grown into a family that cares and honors the best in each other.
We began the new year not knowing one-another and have grown into a supportive close knit crew. Recently one of our students was not making the smartest of choices, friends in our class offered to sit with him, coach him helping him get on track to learn enabling the rest of the class to make the most of the learning opportunities for the afternoon. They care deeply and support one-another unconditionally, appreciating the opportunities available through differentiated instruction.
Every student comes eager to learn new things, willing to work through the day, bringing their best self. I am so lucky to be teaching this amazing group of children.
My Project
Students will benefit through participating in organized sports with the balls, jump ropes, hoops and other equipment. Developing a quality fitness program to engage students in fun and enjoyable sporting activities will increase their desire to live healthy lives into the future. Learning to cooperate, working towards common goals while having fun playing sports will develop essential life skills. Currently we have no PE equipment; our students currently play every version of tag possible, and they do not complain, they run, play and have fun making the most of their time outdoors.
The PE equipment will allow us to incorporate team building, develop communication skills, instill a bit of competitive collaboration towards common goals within small groups all while establishing and working towards individual attainment of personal goals.
Coaching students to learn cooperative strategies while having fun and being physically active will benefit students throughout their lives. Students will see immediate growth in their flexibility, muscular strength, and cardiovascular endurance. This translates towards greater development of motor skills, allowing for safe, successful and fulfilling participation in physical activities.
Elementary age students will grow and develop their love of sports carrying healthy habits through middle school and into high school. By learning the foundations of teamwork now they will achieve greater physical fitness as well as attain increased academic achievements within their schooling.
