Jump Drives, A Place To Start

My 11th grade students need 60 USB 2GB flash drives.

We are an inner city high school that services over 800 students who receive free or reduced lunches. I teach in two content areas: English III and College Preparatory. Many of my students are in both classes.

One of the obstacles students face is that they usually find a way to get to a computer but can't access the internet to upload assignments to my web page and they can't send through email. The English class requires a 7-10 page MLA research paper and in College Prep, students write college and scholarship essays, publish college brochures, create resumes, and complete a student portfolio.

The resources that would benefit my students are USB 2GB Flash Drives. The flash drives will be used as a lending library and loaned to students in need. It's also my intention to share these 'loaners' with another colleague who also teaches in the same content area.

Today my last 'loner' flash drive was lost. It was loaned to a student for the purpose of writing scholarships. In addition to loaning my flash drives, I also assist the students with final editing, mailing, FASFA applications, and provide resources for the college search. Your donation is a gift that will keep on giving for many years. Most importantly, it's the donors, such as you, who take an interest in the quality of education for children and make it happen.
