My Students

Our school serves students in grades K-5 and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers, and a safe learning environment. As a result, we are consistently one of the top-performing schools in our district. Our goal is to prepare our students to be lifelong learners. As a physical educator, I want my students to be lifelong movers.

Juggling is a unique and creative way to get students moving.

Juggling fosters the ability to persevere in mastering challenging tasks with various objects.

My Project

This project will bring a master juggler to our school to provide juggling workshops. These workshops will teach hands-on juggling instruction that will help all students understand the value of persistence, respect, and goal setting.

The younger students will use slow moving scarves and older students will use beanbag balls.

Each level of juggling is broken down into small attainable goals.

The profession juggler will work with all students in the school on beginning level skills. He will also work with advanced students after school who are on the juggling team. He will help choreograph a routine and teach advanced tricks.

There are many academic benefits to juggling. It promotes tracking and crossing the midline, as well as fostering the development of the step by step method which can be applied to both math and science.

Juggling: Jogs the Mind is the name of the culminating event. This is an interactive show that is entertaining and motivational. Students will have an opportunity to demonstrate what they learned during their workshops. Juggling teaches students what they can achieve with the attitude, "Do not give up, the beginning is always the hardest."
