My Project

My students are special and a joy to teach. They are eager learners who are excited to be back to in-person learning. When COVID-19 forced schools to shut down, students and teachers had to adjust to a different way of teaching and learning. What made it hard for my students is not just the academic loss, but more so, the social interaction with their classmates. When schools reopened this year, I noticed my students had to learn to acclimate themselves back into the classroom, and this meant having to relearn how to interact with each other while still being aware of the mask and physical distancing mandates.

After sitting my class down to discuss what the past year was like, it was evident that they had a lot to share about how they were feeling.

Aside from having my students verbally share what's on their minds, I would love to create a space in my classroom where they are able to journal and doodle to express their emotions.

Since space is limited, I would love to have this be a place where a few students can go at a time to practice mindfulness. The timer will help to keep students in rotations.

Bullet journaling is a way to practice mindfulness and a way for self-expression and creativity. The journals will be the avenue in which my students will have the opportunity to share what's on their minds through doodling and writing. Many of my students are visual learners so the pens, markers, and colored pencils will be tools for them to use to express their creativity and to help them share their stories through illustrations.
