My students come into school each day with an eagerness to build relationships, tackle problems and gain perspective on the issues that are facing our community. They are currently involved in an attendance challenge and are serious about using every second of the school day to learn and grow.
Many of my students have faced hardships and staying engaged is key to their success.
Within our district, we find students that have attended less than 85% of scheduled school days, which often causes students to fail multiple classes. Many students do not know how to overcome these obstacles or to reinsert themselves into the classroom atmosphere.
I feel that my students have proven that they are a resilient bunch. They are as tough as any class I've seen. They balance their toughness with a great sense of humor and an endearing kindness of spirit. I hope to be able to reward them for their hard work and generosity.
My Project
Our students have struggled with elaboration in writing all year. Student imaginations needed a spark, so we're working on a project that allows them to build and design a rocket that will carry a message to outer space. The recent Space X launch was our inspiration, and the students get to take control of their imaginary space program and set the goals!

Samsung Chromebooks are the perfect vehicle for our students to create their perfect vehicles! These devices allow them to access the information they need to build their rocket programs, and it also allows them to access documents and materials to fashion their stories and fine-tune their vision. By tying in with our school shared drives and wireless printers, these devices will help make our journey to space a smooth one.
