Do you remember learning to read? For some students it is a challenge. I want to give my students the opportunity to build a love for reading!
I teach first grade at a public school in the mountains of Western North Carolina.
The children come to school eager to learn! Watching their eyes light up is what drives me to constantly search for new ways to keep them engaged. I want to mold students to be lifelong learners!
My Project
We are requesting 25 Draw and Write Journals. These journals would give my students a chance to respond to reading, write their own stories, and illustrate what they write about. This will give my students a chance to express their creative side while they learn. These spiral-bound journals feature plenty of journal pages filled with drawing and lined writing space complete with a high-frequency word list and a helpful writing guide to extend learning!
We are also asking for 5 children's dictionaries. Dictionary skills are becoming a lost skill. It is important for students to know how to use guide words to look up definitions complete with simple sentences.
These requested journals and dictionaries will provide the jump start my students need to be more confident, stronger readers.
Your donation could make all the difference in these children's lives. Wouldn't it be worth it?
