Journaling Our Way to Health Part 2

My students need snacks, active games, pedometers, a photo printer and washi tape to foster health and exercise for the current school year, by journaling about their health successes.

My Students

My students are excited eighth graders, who are looking forward to being healthy this school year. This is their last year in junior high school, and beginning good habits this school year will allow them to translate those skills into their first year of high school.

My students are enthusiastic about being healthy and fit and need amazing resources to help them reach their individual goals.

Creating health journals and using exercising games will encourage my students to go the distance for their health.

My Project

My students have decided that getting healthy this year will be a year long mission. As a result, they plan to journal, play, walk, and eat their way to success. Students watch their parents and other adults use wrist pedometers to be successful with their health, as they monitor their walking and chart their success. My students need items like journals and pedometers to be able to do the same thing.

They will create and use their Fit Journals, which they have already chosen, to monitor their daily progress toward their individual health goals, such as walking daily for 60 minutes, or stretching and exercising during class.

Students will be in charge of monitoring each others' progress through Fit Buddies. During school, students will use the discs and ball throwing game to make sure to stay active for 60 minutes during the day. Using the washi tape and photo printer, students will decorate their journals with color and images of their active success to encourage them to continue journaling about their daily health feats. Rewards for journaling and fitness wins will be healthy snacks that are nutrient rich and are organic and gluten free.
