Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students at my school are awesome! These students come to school each and every day ready to hit the ground running with their education. They may have struggles, but they try their hardest to fight these struggles to become better students.
My school is located in a neighborhood that faces many difficulties on a daily basis.
It is a poverty-stricken neighborhood. My school is a Title I school and every student receives free lunch daily. Even though the neighborhood isn't the best for these students and their families, they still make it to school each day. The school is most student's safe place where they can be themselves and enjoy learning.
My Project
For this project I am requesting materials that my students would need to be successful writers. First, I am asking for journals. The journals would be used during centers, giving students the chance to free write. This will help them to get comfortable and enjoy writing.
Starting early with writing helps students to become better writers.
Along with writing journals, I am requesting chart paper. The chart paper will allow me to model writing for my students. It will also give students a chance to come up and model as well. These materials will really help my students grow as writers!
