Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th graders who are general education students with Individual Education Plans (IEP) who live in many different parts of Long Beach. The students have learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD, Autism, and/or are Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and they are working hard to succeed in general education courses to graduate high school.
They come from diverse social and economic backgrounds and are all working towards their future goals for higher education and careers.
The neighborhood lies in Lakewood, but it is a part of Long Beach Unified School District. My students come from all over Long Beach to attend this school.
My Project
The 2 Minute Morning Journal will be a handy side kick to the Book: Girl, Go Wash Your face. These journals are being used to help supplement the small girls groups that I will be running during lunch time.
We will be focused on positive language when speaking to ourselves, changing our mind set, loving ourselves, and focusing on our personal goals, through journal writing and reflecting.
High school girls have so much on their plates. They are trying to balance so much! They are trying to learn about themselves, while focusing on high school goals, while looking to the future, and while planning their life.
