My students come from a variety of backgrounds - ethnicity, language, race, home life - but they all come from low-income families. They deserve the best opportunities in school to help them succeed.
I always find my students to be full of curiosity and enthusiasm.
Though they live in the poorest congressional district in the country, they never fail to amaze me with their motivation in the classroom. I feel like the luckiest teacher in the world as I get to see them grow and learn as our school year passes.
This year we were lucky enough to be selected to receive the pets in the classroom grant to enhance our science classroom experience. This opportunity has brought Jordan, the bearded dragon, into our lives. With all of the love and care that my students are providing to Jordan, she is growing rapidly. As a result, we need to upgrade Jordan living accommodations to ensure that she continue to live a healthy life in a spacious and comfortable environment. Jordan currently has two tanks one at home and one in school. This ensures that she is properly cared for in the classroom and at home over the course of school breaks and holidays. The current tanks are 10 gallons and 20 gallons, which suitable for a juvenile bearded dragon not our growing bearded dragon.
Jordan has enhanced out classroom in many ways.
She is teaching the students about responsibility and caring for other. As scientist, students are able to make behavioral observations that correlate directly with the units of study.
