Help me give my students desk shields, paper, disinfectant spray, and a Bluetooth speaker for the opportunity to flourish academically for their state exam!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our district provides free lunch for all students. My students come from challenging environments where aggression is often the answer to many problems. A lot of our students have issues related to anger and disrespect. Some of them have trouble interacting appropriately with one another, teachers, and administrators. These students have sometimes gone through some type of trauma, a divorce, or been the victims of abuse or neglect.
We build our classroom to be our community where we are able to talk about issues that occur outside the school.
I want them to feel as though school and my classroom are a safe haven. Basic necessities are not often a given. This includes hygiene products. My students with special needs often feel as if no one notices them or acknowledges their positive behavior. My students need multiple opportunities to learn in many different ways.
My Project
The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. We just need your help in getting everything through our door! The tempered glass is for desk. I want to feel safe as they approach my desk. We are still dealing with Covid and I want my students as well as myself to feel comfortable working in our classroom. We are doing everything from sanitizing desk and not sharing writing utensils. So I feel that this will give me comfort. We use the Lysol and Microban to continuously disinfect our classroom and desk.
The colored copy paper will be used for their projects that they will complete each nine weeks as we stroll through United States History students will create timelines to incorporate with their learning.
I will also use the colored paper for their assignments. My students enjoy receiving their assignments on paper that’s not white paper. I think the colored paper helps them relax and relieves tension. I want to do everything I can to help them grow academically.
