This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

Hi, I'm a fifth grade teacher at PS 202 in East New York. This is my first time teaching 5th grade. I am very excited. I have a wonderful group of students. They love Jerry Spinelli books. I love his books also. My students enjoy reading books as a class. I would give written assignments based on a particular book we might be reading. I try to pick books that might be of interest to them and that have literature circle questions attached. Right now I would like to read Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli with them. I have one class copy of Stargirl. I would like to have a class set (25 copies) of Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli. Having this class set would aid my students in becoming better readers. I am trying to instill in my students the joy of reading. Having these books will definitely support my endeavor. Thank you so much!
