I need to help students to begin the journey of becoming fluent readers!

I began teaching in an inner-city urban school environment 12 years ago, in a kindergarten classroom. I love the content and all my students! After my first year of teaching, I know that's one of the best decisions I ever made! Today, I have the privilege of growing young readers and writers, helping students often move from basic letter-sound knowledge to reading very simple leveled books and writing simple creative stories of their own. Seeing all the brilliance and creativity held in my students' minds translate to the page—and seeing their eyes light up with pride when they can read a book that is filled with new sight words or vocabulary words they have just learned—is pure magic!
I am requesting help to attend the Jen Jones literacy conference in. The materials addressed during this high energy conference is all things ELA. She has a practical, low prep, engaging way to teach in a primary classroom! This ELA resource will not only address the needs of students in the area of reading, it also provides opportunities for teachers to learn how to use resources also provide teachers the opportunity to use different strategies and opportunities for assessment, especially how to help struggling readers. The most important benefit is that my students will learn that reading has a purpose and it's not an isolated subject in school. This conference will allow me to learn new engaging and practical reading strategies to allow my kindergarten students to become lifelong readers.
By attending this reading conference, I hope to be able to learn new reading strategies to engage all students that are in my kindergarten classroom.
Students need the opportunity for genuine experiences in reading to motivate them. This reading resource would help my students with authentic reading experiences. Through these new activities students will learn how reading is important in everyday communication with a real purpose and not an isolated school subject that is more than just letter names and sounds.
