Jazz Up Our Classroom Library!

My students need a visual classroom library and an individual yet durable book bin to hold the books they have checked out from the library.

My Students

My students consist of diverse and energetic 5 and 6 year olds. Coming from an inner city school, I see several students go home with food for the weekend, come in without breakfast and beg to stay at school. Many of which are doing all they can to do their best at school and make their teacher proud.

My class knows they are the "best class" in the school because I tell them daily.

They need to be reminded of their potential, self-worth, and accomplishments everyday! When they receive encouragement and love at school a magical wave seems to arise among them that sparks creativity, joyful hearts, and an eagerness to learn!

My Project

In kindergarten, we learn how to take care of books and get excited about reading! One way we get to explore books is to check the books out in our classroom library.

When searching for a book, I want my students to be able to clearly FIND what they are looking for.

I want them to have a place to keep their books while they have them "checked" out. We currently use bins made of very flimsy and cheap plastic. They often break and have to be replaced.

I feel that my students would really get excited about reading of they had their own book bin and if they had a classroom library that was easy to use!
