This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My first graders are awesome! They are explorers and they are constantly on the move. My school is a place where teachers work hard to educate children from the inside out, emphasizing holistic learning to enhance student growth. We emphasize being safe, being kind, being respectful and being responsible each day in our little classroom. I work with 20 amazing and hardworking students who are extremely eager to learn, participate, and support each other's learning throughout the day.
Our school is a Title I school that serves many military families that are connected to Fort Bragg and 100% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch.
We are a low wealth district in Cumberland county.
My class is full of students with a variety of interests, experiences, needs, and strengths. With the resources and structure they need to apply their curiosity, they will continue to develop into strong learners and balanced individuals. I may not be able to control their home lives, but I really try to provide meaningful and memorable experiences for them every day.
My Project
I would like to have two Osmo Jam coding kits and surf desks that will help my students continue to explore coding while in a comfortable setting. My kiddos will learn to program their robots to play music on their ipads.
These interactive kits will help my students practice coding in a fun and exciting way that will make beats come alive.
They will use coding blocks to create musical beats and make music while learning patterns in math and engage in creative problem-solving. The surf desks will allow my kiddos to be able to work collaboratively with their peers in a comfy workspace.
I am sure it is going to be exciting for them to be able to have these new coding kits in our classroom to work with throughout the curriculum. I appreciate your support!
