Jammin' Middle School Music Class Phase II

My students need an electric guitar and amplifier.

I teach 7th and 8th grade general music in a small rural town. Because of the small size the school we have limited cultural arts opportunities for our students.

The students take general music as one of the four electives that are available at my school. I am always looking for ways to engage the students in learning about music.

The students have expressed a genuine interest in having a school based guitar lab. This guitar lab will consist of a class set of guitars that my students can use to further explore music. Among the equipment in the guitar lab I want to include several stratocaster type electric guitars. These guitars tend to have lighter strings which will help some students be able to fret strings easier. I feel the electric guitars will also be an incentive to students to learn more about music through learning how to play the guitar. I am sure that the electric guitars included in the guitar lab help get the students excited about music. I am building the guitar lab a few guitars at a time.

Your help will make it possible for my students to claim music and the arts as a lifelong tool for learning about their culture.
