Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Teaching bilingual students is a blessing in disguise! Our students are Spanish speaking students that are in the process of learning the English language. They are all very hard working students that are eager to learn more academic content as well as the English language.
These amazing kids live in the diverse surrounding neighborhoods near the school.
Our school population has a high percentage of kids on free or reduced-price lunch, and serves a diverse community of monolingual and bilingual students.
My Project
IXL.com has been a great resource that I have used in the past. It provides extra math, science and social studies practice for the students through an online program. Our students will have the opportunity for extra math practice at their own level. Furthermore, my bilingual students will be able to practice their English skills utilizing the science and social studies portion of the online program.
IXL.com would greatly benefit my students by helping them excel in math, science and social studies skills.
The wonderful thing about the IXL.com program is that it tracks the student's progress throughout the whole year. It rewards them for completing lessons and the students can work at their grade level, above, or below, depending on their needs.
I would greatly appreciate receiving funding for this program and I know that my students would appreciate it as well.
