Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Here at our school, we have over 500 students. We are a Title I school, which means that our students come from lower income households. Our school is a brand new school, and we are very excited to be in the brand new building and to start our own legacy.
I am the music teacher, which means that I get to teach every student in the building.
My students love to come to music to sing, dance, play instruments, and most importantly to learn!
My Project
My students love to play the drums! I am always trying to incorporate these beloved instruments into my lessons. Shape Drums are a great tool to use with my younger students. They are well designed instruments that are light enough to be easily used by little hands but sturdy enough to handle their enthusiastic drumming. Floor Toms are a great resource for me to use with my older students. With these drums, my students are able to work on their drumming techniques.
Drums are a great resource in my classroom, and they allow my students to express themselves musically.
Along with instruments, I love to incorporate literature into my music lessons. The book "Secret Pizza Party" would be a great addition to my classroom's collection. My students often add instruments to a story to create what is called a sound story. It helps them to bring the story to life, and it is a great creative outlet for them. I love hearing what they come up with!
