My students need chess sets for the Freedom Prep chess team. More chess sets will allow us to expand our team as well as the events we can host and attend.

My Students

As a school of choice, my students and their families care deeply about education. As a Title I school, my students and their families often lack the resources that could help them succeed.

At our school, 40% of the students are receiving free or reduced-price lunch, but 100% of our students are eager to meet the challenges of a rigorous and engaging curriculum.

Because of our demographics, many of our students lack essential materials at home and only have access to them in the classroom.

My Project

Our chess students are passionate and dedicated. They meet twice a week and go to tournaments and events on the weekend. Unfortunately, nearly all of our chess team fees go to paying for tournament registration. Our chess sets are getting a little old and broken. One set uses a test tube as a pawn.

New chess sets would allow us to replace our old and worn out chess sets as well as expanding the number of players that we can have.

We hope to eventually host a state tournament in our school, and this donation will go a long way to making this happen for our students.
