"But most of all, you help me with me," Those were the words a student wrote to me at the end of last year. Those words were a reminder that as a teacher, I do so much more than teach students English, math, science and social studies.
I currently teach in a Title I School.
Most of my students are faced with problems in and out of the classroom. Despite the challenges they face, I am there to provide them with stability, acceptance and resources that will help not only teach them in the present but hopefully, will help build a foundation that will help support their future learning.
My students are full of life, energy and curiosity. From the minute they walk into the room, my kids are ready to go. They love to move and to be actively engaged in the learning process. I try my best to provide them with learning experiences that provide them with movement, as well as fun ways to remember the content I am teaching. I believe that a classroom should be fun and engaging, not just a place where children sit behind a desk for hours.
My Project
In a recent online article, Edutopia stated, "Great teachers help create great students. In fact, research shows that an inspiring and informed teacher is the most important school-related factor influencing student achievement, so it is critical to pay close attention to how we train and support both new and experienced educators." I strongly believe in this quote because all teachers need to have opportunities to learn from the best in their field.
I am looking forward to bring back some innovative teaching strategies that are on the cutting edge and research-based.
The presenters at the Teach Your Heart Out Conference are inspiring, creative, engaging, and are the current gurus in our profession! I follow most of these presenters on social media, but to actually meet them and learn from them in person would be a dream. This is a conference where I know that I will come back rejuvenated and ready to teach my heart out!
