My students need a good way to make a connection to global issues in the classroom to understand what is going on in the world around them. Not only will this TIME for kids subscription help my students become members of a global community, it will enhance our digital classroom, and the materials are linked to our state standards.
My school is very unique and special. We are a very small community school that is independent from the county district. We house students from PreK-12th grade in our historic school building, one class per grade level. When I tell people I am the 4th grade teacher, I mean it! I am THE 4th grade teacher, the only one. I love teaching at this school. We have tons of support from administration and our school is our family.
Our community, however, is very poverty stricken.
We are 100% free breakfast and lunch, and sadly, for some those are the only meals they receive. At this school, we constantly strive to provide everything our students need, mostly importantly love.
I have 25 students this year who have been together since they started school, so they have grown up together. The love and support they show for each other is amazing! They clap for each other when a classmate answers correctly, shoots a hoop, or just reads their story. We also have a special needs student that requires a lot of care. They love to assist her, even my rough and tough boys are eager to hold her hand in the hall!
Students these days need to know what is going on in the world around them. TIME for Kids allows me to bring the world to my kids as we explore what is happening outside of our school's four walls. Our town is small and our students lack experiences, some of them have never traveled more than 20 miles from their home.
This magazine subscription will not only enhance our digital classroom, but it will also allow my students to understand what is happening to other groups of people so they can grow up to be more compassionate adults.
Not only will this TIME for kids subscription help my students become members of a global community, it will enhance our digital classroom, and the materials are linked to our state standards.
