Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a very diverse group of individuals. They come from all different cultures, races, languages, and life experiences. Many of my students have experienced situations in their lives I cannot even imagine. The majority of the students at my school, as well as within my classroom, are eligible for free/reduced-priced lunch.
Many of my students have not had the opportunities and experiences many other students their age have.
It is my job as their teacher to provide as many of these experiences for them as possible, through creative outlets within the walls of my classroom. They inspire me to come to school every day and be the best teacher I can be, for them. School is many of my students' safe place, and I want to make learning as engaging and interactive as possible.
My Project
This past fall, I was fortunate enough to visit the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. The learning atmosphere was captivating, and I brought many ideas back to my school to implement within my 4th-grade classroom students. I am looking to further my professional development and expand my knowledge through the national Get Your Teach On Conference.
I am always thinking outside the box for ways to motivate and engage my students to help them reach their full potential.
The Get Your Teach On conference will not only provide me with ideas to help reach my students in math, but provide me with resources to assist some of my fellow grade level teachers in their subject areas as well.
