My Students

A child's first grade year is so exciting! They know how the whole school thing works and they come in ready to learn how to read and become mathematicians. In our class of 20 students, we have a wonderful mix of backgrounds that add to the sparkle in our room.

Witnessing their understanding grow of how letters and numbers work is magical!

Students are on different levels of understanding but they are growing and that's what matters. Giving them the tools and resources to help them be all they can be and reach their potential is an important goal of mine!

My Project

This year I will be teaching a class filled with higher level learners. I need resources to meet their reading needs and keep their interests. Having subscriptions to Scholastic News and Time for Kids will be tremendous addition to our reading toolbox!

With the implementation of new science and social studies standards, these real life, real time, real world publications will enable me to introduce my first graders to key science and social studies content in such as relevant and interesting to them way.

I have requested K-1 and 2nd grade versions of the magazines to meet the needs of all of my learners.
