Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Welcome to Mrs. Ellerman's Class! My 3rd graders are from Paterson, New Jersey which is a low income school district. Although some of my students face many struggles and challenges at home, they always come into school ready to learn. My students look forward to coming to school, are thoughtful and kind, and are always willing to help one another. Many of my students do not have technology available to them at home and unfortunately my classroom does not either.
My Project
In today's world, technology is a necessity. The demand of using technology in school has been placed on teachers and their students, but not all have the technology available to them. My 3rd graders are at a disadvantage due to the lack of technology in my classroom and it saddens me. My goal and hope for them is for every single one of my students to have a Chromebook in my class. Using these laptops in my classroom will not only enhance their learning, but my teaching as well.
It would be amazing for my students to experience typing up their writing draft and being able to revise, edit, and publish their work.
My students would have the opportunity to practice typing, read books online, and participate on many different websites or apps to enhance their learning such as RAZ Kids or Moby Max during center time. There have been many instances while teaching Social Studies that my students needed to conduct some research but the lack of technology made it very difficult to do so.
Many of my students do not have access to a computer at home. I feel that especially since they do not have the opportunity to utilize technology at home, it is essential for them to be able to in school. These Chromebooks would give my 3rd graders the chance to enhance their learning and keep up with the ever growing demand of technology that exists in the world today.
