This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Working in an urban school district with over 90% free or reduced lunch presents many problems. Many students do not get the exposure to current, non-fiction information.
My students, although they face many challenges, are fantastic.
They show up to school every day and work hard to master the standards in our classroom. They want to be challenged, they want clear rules and consequences and most of all they want to learn.
My Project
I am always amazed when donors support projects for the students in my classroom! I want to provide so much, but my own resources become limited. I am so thankful for every donor and donation that is made to my students. By providing the resource of Time for Kids, I will provide an interesting way to engage students in reading and hopefully an interest for topics that may not be explored in the traditional lesson. These donations will impact 75 students in the 5th grade and will also be used in my literacy class.
It is so important to expose students to different genres of literature, including Time for Kids!
Most students do not get the opportunity to read this fantastic magazine, but with your generosity, that will change! I thank you for your time and consideration!
