Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kindergarten students are enthusiastic learners, leaders, explorers, and compassionate friends.
One day, they will change the world.
For now, they are five and six year olds from diverse cultural, socio-economic, and linguistic backgrounds who deserve every advantage they can get on their path to academic success. For several, kindergarten is their first experience in a school setting.
These children deserve to meet their full potential and experience academic success. This project could be a game-changer by supporting language and literacy learning.
My Project
My kindergarten students would love to each receive a weekly subscription to TIME For Kids magazine to learn about diversity, inclusion, and multiculturalism while strengthening their literacy skills.
This resource teaches students about diverse cultures, accepting others, current events, science, as well as important events in history and multicultural historical figures.
The text is grade level appropriate and keeps students interested because it is in magazine format and the illustrations are colorful.
TIME For Kids weekly magazine would supplement our current social studies/science curriculum and allow students to begin their school career with an appreciation of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
