Different school environments bring different vibes. Something that I admire about our school is that the students love being there. I rarely hear, "I hate school!" or "I don't want to be at school today!" I believe that the teachers in our building do their best to ensure that students have a positive feeling about school and that truly translates into each classroom.
My reading groups are full of diverse, inquisitive learners.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds but somehow manage to have one thing in common. They love to learn. The smile on my face enlarges each time they beg for more information on a topic, or when they teach me something new.
My students are incredible humans and they inspire me every day.
My Project
This is my first year as a reading intervention teacher. I love the role and am continuously looking for new ways to engage all learners.
I work with K-5 students, many of these pupils are still learning letters and sounds.
In this project, I have included several decodable readers and a few beginner chapter books with diverse characters. My goal is to loan these books out to the students I work with so they have access to books at their level while at home.
I have also included a few supplies to add to my teaching toolkit. One of the tools included is a pack of Magna-tiles. There are several intervention strategies for early readers that use Magna-tiles. One activity is to use the tiles to create phonograms in order to sound out or spell out words.
