We are a high poverty, low-income school. Our resources, especially technology, are extremely limited. I teach a multilevel class that needs a great deal of additional support and motivation with learning materials.
My students want innovative materials and activities to help them research and create projects based on their interests.
They learn best with hands-on, deeply involved activities. I teach students in a Title I school who are enthusiastic about learning, but need a great deal of instructional support from a variety of materials. It is such a great feeling to see students develop a love of learning through exploration.
My Project
The materials included in this project will be used by students to create projects based on their own interests. Students will be given the opportunity to research, plan, and develop projects during our weekly Genius Hour. Students will have one hour each week to work on their projects before using speaking and listening skills to present their final outcomes.
This project allows inquisitive students to explore their own wonders and answer their own "what is, what if, why does" questions.
Students will integrate art, language, math, and cooperative learning skills to find answers to their questions using research and creativity. Students will also learn the importance of making mistakes to improve on design and persevering through problem solving.
