My students are future scientists, artists, basketball players, doctors, engineers, and much more and they just need a few basic supplies to get them there!
I teach at a Title I school where all of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
I currently teach a first grade classroom consisting of nine male students and six female students. My students are eager and excited to learn new things. They also tend to run a little expensive.
My Project
The materials I am requesting are often over-looked because they are such small items. These items include tissues, disinfecting wipes, paper clips, new folders, new notebooks, new storage bags, and small items that are used on a daily basis. I am requesting a filing cabinet in order to teach my students how to file and organize files alphabetically. One of the first grade Standards of Learning in Virginia is to alphabetize words and I want them to see how this applies in the real world. The laminating paper is used for me to make the literacy and math centers I create more durable.
These small items such as tissues, wipes, paper clips, folders, notebooks, sandwich bags, etc.
will make a world of a difference in our classroom right now. They are small and basic items but are so important in the classroom and used on a daily basis. The filing cabinet will help the students apply their knowledge of alphabetizing words in a real-life scenario.
