My students are full of joy and excitement! They are all unique in their own way and love to share their experiences with one other. At the beginning of the day, I remind them of how important they are, and their faces light up the room. They come to school ready to achieve their learning goals and gain experiences that will make them our future leaders! They inspire me everyday and make me want to be the best possible teacher I can be for them.
The students in my classroom are students with disabilities and we embrace who we are!
Our school is a close knit community and foster students social emotional needs as well as academics. We are a growing Title I school and space has become limited, along with technology. We share a room with another group of students and share technology with other classrooms. We welcome any opportunity given to us and the students do not complain. I want to give back to their families and enhance their learning with up-to-date resources that will help them overcome any challenges they have help them learn alongside their general education peers.
My Project
My students are hard workers and supplies run out fast! The wear and tear of our everyday activities makes it hard to keep up with pencils and colored pencils. Writing is a difficult subject for my students due to low fine motor skills and difficulties with spelling. My students become frustrated easily and often will give up before trying. Writing on dry erase boards has become a life saver. Students don't see it as writing if there is no pencil and paper in front of them! Our erase boards have been used so frequently that they have started to become stained and hard to clean. My classes would love to have new expo markers and clean boards to express their thoughts and answers on! Students come to see me from different general education classrooms and grades. Because I do not have a homeroom, I have a difficult time collecting tissues and Clorox wipes. We have to borrow from students' classrooms and their supplies are also running low from the beginning of the school year. My students and I would love to have our own set so we don't have to worry about runny noses and to keep our classroom germ free! We need to stay healthy!
These are small items but will make a tremendous difference in our class!
The donations to this project will refresh our supply list and help my students engage in classroom activities until the end of the year. The supplies will help my students grow and become stronger learners. They will stay healthy and engaged in our learning activities. I can't wait to see their faces when they see the new white boards and colored pencil set! It is truly the small things that excite my students, and that is why I love them :)
