This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Have you ever heard a good story read? Story time in the school library is just that the opportunity to hear a good story read or to hear a story teller but we don't have a story area in our library where we can sit close and listen. Please help us get an area rug to sit on during story time.
We are a K-5 urban school.
Ninety nine percent of our students live in poverty and their parents cannot afford to buy them books. The local branches of the public library have been closed and their parents do not take them to the one remaining library downtown. The school library is the last place our students can come for story time or to find a book to sit and read.
My Project
This colorful area rug was designed specifically for library reading or seating areas. It seats up to 30 while providing children with plenty of elbow room. Each square on the carpet pictures a book and gives each child their own place to sit and enjoy story time. Our school library is not carpeted and we need a cozy area to share stories.
Experiencing a good story told or read.
A special place to cozy up and read. Please help our students have this small place of their own in our library. It will brighten our school library and the lives our our students.
