"Don't give up. I believe in you all. A person's a person no matter how small."~Dr. Seuss
Even though my kindergarteners are small, their potential is great! While exposing them to technology, my goal is to provide them the opportunity to master skills and build confidence in their learning.
My students are sweet, energetic and a delight to teach.
Their interest for learning is evident and their imagination is wild. There is never a dull moment in my kindergarten class. We laugh together, we learn together and we play together. Our school is a high poverty school and receives benefits through Title 1. Many children have not even seen a computer before entering kindergarten. Of course, once they are introduced, they just can't get enough. They all look forward to centers so they can play educational games on the computer. How do you think they will feel if they got to play with iPads also? WOW! The learning styles in my classroom are different for each student and their academic levels are low, medium and high. No matter what their academic level is, every child in my classroom tries their hardest and all have showed growth so far this year. I am proud of each and every one of my students and will continue to teach them the knowledge they need in order to succeed.
My Project
I plan to use the iPads during our center time for the students to practice academic skills, design grade level projects/stories, access information on certain topics aligned with the curriculum and overall become more knowledgeable about technology and have fun learning. These students deserve to have a device they can utilize on a daily basis that will contribute to their learning and help sharpen the skills they are being taught.
Technology is growing daily and people are becoming more and more dependent on using technology to change the world.
I believe the more access students have to technology, the more successful they will be in the future. I teach kindergarten, which is the foundation of student learning. Why not put iPads in these children's hands and prepare them for the future?
