My students need 9 items such as a rhyming box, rhyming photo magnets, a "Sort the Sound!" center, and more, to help them learn rhyming words. Having fun and exciting materials to work with will make my children want to learn all the words they can.
Kindergarten students love rhyming words, but they need lots of practice to help them learn. They need to be able to actually see and touch objects that rhyme and be able to hear the rhymes read out loud.
My students are just beginning to learn how to read.
They are so excited about all the new words we are learning. Rhyming words are especially fun for them because they can learn a few rhyme patterns, and then they are able to read lots of words on their own. Since many of my students are learning English as their second language, they need lots of ways to practice rhymes. They need to be able to hear the rhyming words read orally often. Providing them with the Dr. Seuss books on compact discs will give them the opportunity to hear the rhymes over and over.
My Project
The materials that I am requesting will help my students practice rhyming words in fun, meaningful ways. The rhyming sound awareness box is filled with materials that will allow my students to actually touch and sort objects that rhyme. The rhyming words photo magnets and the sort the sound center will also give them opportunities to see and hear the rhyming patterns. The Listen, Read, and Rhyme with Dr. Seuss materials will allow my students to hear all sorts of rhyming words being read from a collection of Dr. Seuss books.
Kindergarten children need to feel successful when they are learning how to read.
Since reading is such a difficult process, we start with simple things such as rhyming patterns to help children build their reading vocabulary. Having fun and exciting materials to work with will make my children want to learn all the words they can. You can help us learn how to read by providing a little "rhyme time in kindergarten."
